Jedi Training - Jax's 5th Birthday Party

For Jackson's birthday party, Jax decided he wanted a "Star Wars Clone Wars" party. So I decided to have all the kids train to be Jedi's! I had such a fun time planning. I made little tunics for the kids to wear so that they look like "padawans". Then we played musical chairs to "Star Wars" music. Next, we played "Red Light Saber, Blue Light Saber" (aka Red light, green light) Each kid had a turn holding up the light sabers and having the kids run towards them. Then they trained with light sabers. I had blown up the long skinny balloons and had the kids practice their moves. Then they had to use their "light sabers" to pop bubbles. The last game we played was just a simple bean bag game. Then we had cake and ice cream. The cake had a picture of Jax dressed up like a clone trooper from Halloween. It turned out so cute. Then we opened presents. There was a little bit of time left and all the kids really wanted to play "real" light sabers. So we paired the kids up and let them fight. I was a little nervous that they would get hurt, but the did a good job of not hitting too hard. What was really cute, was that they all cheered the other kids on when it wasn't their turn. I think the kids had a great time! I know Jax loved it. And Jerry and I survived our first birthday party that we had friends invited to. We ended up with 15 kids (including jax and bri). It was crazy, but all the kids were so nice and had a really great time.
P.S. I also got to take cupcakes in to Jax's class on thursday. He was so excited to pass out cupcakes. All the kids were so great and sang him happy birthday and said thanks for the cupcakes. He is growing up so fast!

Happy 5th Birthday Jackson!

My little boy is turning 5 today! He is definitely growing up right before my eyes. He amazes me everyday. He is a wonderful boy, sweet, loving, and very helpful! He is a great big brother! He is all boy! He loves soccer and his new "2nd favorite sport" is hockey. (Thanks to the sports complex!) He is in kindergarten and learning so much this year. He loves playing with kids and especially loves getting to know the kids in his class at school. I decided to ask him a few questions about himself, this is what he said:

I love this boy so much! We are truly blessed to have him in our family. Happy Birthday Jax!

Another Addition to our Family!

Yes, I know you already know about Cassie, but we also have another member added to our family this week. It's our first official family pet, a turtle! His name is Yoda! Since Jerry refuses to get a dog or cat, a turtle is pretty good for him. Yoda is very low maintenance, which is perfect for us right now! He is so cute! We got him from one of Jerry's friends who couldn't keep him any more. He is about a year old and fits basically in the palm of our hand right now. But should grow to be pretty big. We are all very excited and I still can't believe we have a pet!

Hooray for Halloween!

I love Halloween! It is such a fun holiday. The kids have had their costumes for almost a month and have been dying to wear them! Jax was Rex, a clone trooper from "Star Wars, Clone Troopers". Briana was Sharpay from "High School Musical". Cassie was a butterfly, or more like a baby that got swallowed by a butterfly! : ) Briana looked so old in her costume and she worked it! She would shake her little hips and twirl around and hold her dress so it wouldn't drag on the ground! They got to go to a Trunk or Treat which Aubrey and Travis took them to, earlier in the week. And then on Halloween, we went and saw all the grandparents to show off their costumes. Then we had dinner and went trick or treating with my family around my parents neighborhood. The kids had a great time and got way too much candy! This is our fave time of year. Crazy, but great. November is full of family birthdays and Thanksgiving and then . . . CHRISTMAS!!!! Bring on the fun!
